April Leadership Spotlight: Habit 7 Sharpen the Saw |
Sharpening the saw isn't just about taking a break; it’s about making sure we are the best version of ourselves so we can lead others effectively!
Why "Sharpen the Saw"?
Imagine trying to cut down a tree with a dull axe. You’d work twice as hard and get half as much done! At North DeSoto Lower Elementary, we teach our students that they are the "instrument" of their own success. If they don't take time to "sharpen" themselves, they might feel tired, grumpy, or overwhelmed.
The "Little Griffin" Growth Mindset
This week, we are encouraging students to think of Habit 7 as Investment Time. When we Sharpen the Saw, we are investing in our future selves.
🏠 Home Connection: The "Battery Check"
Try this simple check-in during dinner or car rides this week. Ask your child:
"On a scale of 1 to 10, how full is your battery today? What can we do tonight to help you 'sharpen' it back to a 10?"
By teaching our Little Griffins to recognize when they need to "Sharpen the Saw," we are giving them the tools for lifelong wellness and leadership.
"Be a leader of yourself first, and the rest will follow."
