Time to Buy a 2026 NDLE Yearbook |
Flyers will be coming home in student folders with a QR code and details about purchasing yearbooks. All yearbook sales are online. Our yearbooks cost $42 with all fees included. Our yearbooks are made with the company Pictavo and managed through Cowen Photography. Our yearbooks will be distributed to students before the last day of school in May 2026.
Our school receives a portion of the proceeds for yearbook and any Cowen photography picture sales. Essentially yearbooks and picture sales are fundraisers for our school. In order to maximize the school's earnings, we will not be ordering any extra yearbooks to be sold at the end of the year. In other words, if you want a yearbook, order one through the website before March 31. If you need help with ordering or have any questions, please email tara.brawley@desotopsb.com.
You can scan the QR code provided in this post or go to the online store with this link https://www.buytheyearbook.com/en/
Books can be personalized with the student's name for $10. Business or personal ads may also be purchased on the website. Here are the total prices for business or personal ads.
Quarter page ($26.25)
Half page ($52.50)
Whole page ($105)
Parents can design their own ad on the website or you can send the pictures and a message to tara.brawley@desotopsb.com and I will create an ad for you.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win — Everyone Can Win!
This month, our school is focusing on Habit 4: Think Win-Win. At its heart, this habit is the belief that everyone can succeed. It’s not about you versus me; it’s about finding a way for both of us to be happy.
What Does "Think Win-Win" Mean?
Thinking Win-Win is the mindset that life is a cooperative arena, not a competitive one. It is the belief that there is plenty of success for everyone. This habit teaches students to balance courage (standing up for their own needs) with consideration (listening to the needs of others). Instead of one person "winning" while another "loses," we search for Third Alternatives—solutions that satisfy both parties.
Practicing Win-Win on the Playground
The playground is where Habit 4 truly comes to life. It is the primary place where students learn to navigate social dynamics and resolve conflicts independently. Here are ways we are encouraging students to Think Win-Win while playing:
The Timer Strategy: If multiple students want to use the same equipment, like a slide or a basketball, they can agree to set a "rotation time" so everyone gets an equal turn.
The "Half-and-Half" Agreement: If friends can’t agree on which game to play, they can spend the first ten minutes playing one person’s choice and the final ten minutes playing the other’s.
Inclusive Play: When a group is playing a game and someone new wants to join, a Win-Win leader looks for ways to adjust the rules or teams so everyone can participate, rather than leaving someone out.
Standardized Rules: Before a game begins, students can agree on the rules together. This prevents "Win-Lose" arguments later on because everyone started with the same understanding of the game.
How to Support Habit 4 at Home
Solve Problems Together: When a conflict arises between siblings or family members, ask: "What is a solution that would make us both happy?" and wait for them to brainstorm ideas.
Celebrate Others: Encourage your child to be genuinely happy for a friend or sibling who succeeds, rather than feeling like they have "lost."
Focus on Agreements: When setting expectations for chores or homework, create a "Win-Win Agreement." For example: "If you complete your chores by 5:00 PM (your win for a clean room), you can have 30 minutes of screen time (their win for relaxation)."
By practicing Habit 4, our students are learning that they don't have to step on others to succeed. They are building the foundation for healthy, lasting relationships.
