Leader In Me

Habit 1: Be Proactive

🌟 Circle of Control: Habit 1 – Be Proactive

Teaching children about their “Circle of Control” helps them focus on what they can do instead of what they can’t.

✅ Inside My Circle of Control (Things I can choose)

  • My words

  • My attitude

  • My effort in schoolwork

  • How I treat others

  • How I solve problems

👉 Example: “I can’t control if my friend shares, but I can control if I use kind words.”

❌ Outside My Circle of Control (Things I can’t change)

  • The weather

  • What others say or do

  • School rules

  • How fast the lunch line moves

  • The past

👉 Example: “I can’t control if it rains at recess, but I can control how I enjoy indoor activities.”

✨ When children focus on what’s inside their Circle of Control, they learn responsibility, confidence, and problem-solving skills.

Parent Tip for Being Proactive

Why It’s Important to Monitor Technology
Technology can be a great way for children to learn and have fun, but young kids don’t always know what’s safe or appropriate. By checking in on what your child is watching, playing, or sharing, you can help protect them from harmful content and guide them toward healthy, positive choices. Monitoring isn’t about “catching” them—it’s about keeping them safe and teaching them how to use technology responsibly as they grow. Scan the QR code on the flyer below to learn about Go Guardian for Parents. This is a tool provided by our District that enables teachers to monitor a whole class while they are on their chromebooks and is now available to you at home.
