Leader In Me

🌟 Habit 1: Be Proactive – A Key to Success at School and Home

Being proactive means taking responsibility for our choices instead of blaming others or reacting to what’s happening around us. For children and parents, this habit can make a big difference in how daily life feels.

How It Helps Children

  • Builds Confidence – Kids feel proud when they take action and see positive results.

  • Reduces Stress – Focusing on what they can do helps children worry less.

  • Encourages Problem-Solving – Proactive kids look for solutions instead of waiting for someone else to fix things.

  • Creates Positive Habits – Small routines, like laying out clothes or finishing homework first, teach lifelong responsibility.

How It Helps Parents

  • Strengthens Routines – Planning ahead makes mornings, homework, and family time smoother.

  • Models Healthy Choices – Children learn calm, thoughtful responses by watching their parents.

  • Improves Relationships – Staying proactive instead of reactive builds trust and keeps communication open.

  • Prepares Kids for the Future – Guiding children to take ownership now helps them grow into resilient, capable adults.

✨ When families practice Habit 1, both children and parents feel more capable, calm, and connected.

Parent Tip for Being Proactive

Why It’s Important to Monitor Technology
Technology can be a great way for children to learn and have fun, but young kids don’t always know what’s safe or appropriate. By checking in on what your child is watching, playing, or sharing, you can help protect them from harmful content and guide them toward healthy, positive choices. Monitoring isn’t about “catching” them—it’s about keeping them safe and teaching them how to use technology responsibly as they grow. Scan the QR code on the flyer below to learn about Go Guardian for Parents. This is a tool provided by our District that enables teachers to monitor a whole class while they are on their chromebooks and is now available to you at home.
