Leader In Me

September Habit Recap:

We had 22 students who received Leadership Tokens during the month of September for being Proactive at school. Here are some of the examples of being Proactive that teachers saw:

In the Classroom:

  • Getting out the supplies they need before starting their work

  • Cleaning up their space so it's ready for the next activity

  • Finishing a task before moving to playtime or centers

In the Hallway:

  • Walking quietly

  • Keeping hands to themselves

In the Cafeteria:

  • Getting everything they need before sitting down

  • Cleaning up their area so it's ready for the next class

On the Playground:

  • Talking about the rules of a game before they start playing

  • Taking turns on the playground equipment

We hope parents have also seen our students making Proactive choices at home as well. For the month of October, we will focus on Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind. Read next week's Monday Memo to learn about what this habit means.

Parent Tip for Being Proactive

Why It’s Important to Monitor Technology
Technology can be a great way for children to learn and have fun, but young kids don’t always know what’s safe or appropriate. By checking in on what your child is watching, playing, or sharing, you can help protect them from harmful content and guide them toward healthy, positive choices. Monitoring isn’t about “catching” them—it’s about keeping them safe and teaching them how to use technology responsibly as they grow. Scan the QR code on the flyer below to learn about Go Guardian for Parents. This is a tool provided by our District that enables teachers to monitor a whole class while they are on their chromebooks and is now available to you at home.

Kindergarten Reading Logs Due Tuesday, September 30th!!

Kindergarten Families,

Please turn in your reading logs by Tuesday, September 30th. If there is a class where EVERYONE turns in their completed September Reading Log, Mrs. Odom will buy the class donuts!

S.T.R.E.A.M.

Mrs. Odom is one of our hardworking and creative Enrichment teachers. Students visit her library once a week where she combines Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math with literacy. As a long -time first grade teacher, Mrs. Odom knows just what it takes to build background knowledge, vocabulary, and reading skills to motivate our Little Griffins to read. These pictures represent the truly unique enrichment experiment our students get when they visit her class.
