At NDMS, we believe every child carries a spark of genius within them. Middle school is such an important time for students to discover what excites them, what challenges them, and what makes them shine. Finding their niche, whether in academics, the arts, athletics, leadership, or service, is not only about building skills but also about building confidence and a sense of belonging.
As families and as a school community, we share the responsibility of helping our students uncover those gifts and celebrate them. Sometimes it’s the quiet moments at home, a conversation in the car, or the encouragement to try something new that gives students the courage to step into their strengths.
This week, we had a wonderful example of that spark in action. Two of our amazing band students asked if they could lead a quick round of “Name That Tune” during lunch. These two students got to showcase their talents in a way that brought joy to the whole cafeteria. It was a simple moment, but one that highlighted the power of letting students share their gifts.
We encourage you to talk with your child about what excites them and how they can use their talents to contribute to our NDMS family. Together, let’s keep fostering curiosity, creativity, and courage so every student can find and share their genius.
