Real Talk with Rhoads..

NDMS Families,

There is something special about spring at NDMS. The sunshine feels a little brighter, there is a new energy in the halls, and the growth, both academic and personal, starts to shine. Spring is a culminating season for us. It’s when we truly begin to see Learning, Leadership, and Service in action all around our campus.

This week was a beautiful example of that.

We had the honor of recognizing two outstanding students as our Portrait of a Graduate honorees. These students represent the very best of NDMS. Watching them be celebrated reminded me of why our core values matter so much. They are not just words on a wall. They are lived out daily in classrooms, hallways, on teams, and in our students' lives.

In one ELA classroom, students dove into texts together as they started a new unit of study. It was powerful to visit this classroom and see collaboration happening. Students were discussing ideas, asking thoughtful questions, and pushing one another’s thinking. That is learning in action. That is leadership being built. That is preparation for what’s ahead.

And to top off the week, we enjoyed sno-cones during break! It may seem simple, but giving students time to enjoy the beautiful weather and each other’s company builds community. It strengthens relationships. It creates joy. Moments like these matter just as much as the academic ones because they remind us that school is about connection, too.

While these may seem like separate events, a student recognition, rigorous learning, and a fun break, they all reflect the same heartbeat. They show how we live out Learning, Leadership, and Service within the walls of NDMS every single day.

This school is unique.
It is special.
And it is yours.

Thank you for entrusting our staff with the privilege of serving your children and leading this incredible school community. Spring at NDMS is a reminder of just how blessed we are.

NDMS RECOGNITIONS:

Please help us congratulate our Portraits of a Graduate. Wyatt is January's Portrait of a Graduate, Global Communicator. Wyatt consistently demonstrates a strong understanding of the importance of meaningful, face-to-face interactions and maintaining positive connections within his community, and among his peers. He communicates clearly and concisely, expressing his ideas with confidence and respect. Wyatt serves as a role model for others through his ability to stay connected, engaged, and thoughtful in his communication. While Addie is February's Portrait of a Graduate, Critical Thinker.  Addie consistently demonstrates a strong understanding of the value of learning and applying knowledge both now and in the future. She excels at analyzing information, forming sound judgments, and making well-informed decisions. She is a strong model of the importance of critical thinking in and outside the classroom.

Shout out to February 9th's NDMS High Flyers! These students demonstrate hard work and follow school rules. They make good decisions, manage priorities, are kind to others, and exemplify what it means to be a true Griffin! Way to go, Griffins! February's Griffins have the quality of being innovative;  they are great at introducing new ideas, are original and creative with their thinking. They also use new ideas, methods, products, or solutions that create value, improve existing things, or solve problems in original ways, moving beyond creativity to practical implementation that brings about positive change or advancement. This involves thinking differently, experimenting, taking action to bring something new into being, whether it's a completely new invention or a fresh new take on an old process. Representing 6th grade are Ethan and Ja'Miracle. 7th grade representatives are Brooklyn and Austin while 8th grade is being represented by Mariah and JJ. Congratulations to each of you! You are proof we are #winningtogether!
