Dear NDUE Families,
I hope you and your family enjoyed a little quality time last week during WINTER Break and that you are rested and ready to get back to the routine of learning and growing.
This week, in our Monday memo, there are many reminders about student goals, proper channels of communication, and upcoming annual events.
Our desire, as always, is to best serve the students of our community and ensure each student makes strong progress towards their personal goals. Academic achievement is important to each student's future success, but it is NOT a mountain that we climb all at once.
Each year, students receive a goal that helps them take a leap forward in their educational journey. Goals have to be both rigorous and attainable to be motivating. At this age in your child's development, they are learning how to learn, and they make a lot of mistakes. Before a baby learns to walk, they crawl. They stand holding on to nearby objects. When they finally decide to take those first steps forward, they inevitably fall. We do not get discouraged or worry that they will not learn; instead, we stand them back up, clap, and cheer, encouraging them to try again. This is a new chapter in your child's development, and it's going to come with both moments of setbacks and glory. Please remember during both the successes and disappointments that what we need most in this world are people of goodwill, who know how to persevere, who believe in their ability to change and grow, who own their mistakes, and understand the power of their influence on others. Falling isn't failure, struggling is how we learn, and success is sweeter when we work for it.
We are excited to continue to love, challenge, and celebrate your student this Spring and appreciate your partnership to ensure each child at NDUE reaches their personal best.
Geaux Griffins!
