Dear NDUE Families, Our PTO and Staff have been working so hard to plan and prepare for the events of this week.
The Griffin 5K is one of our BIGGEST Family events of the year, and it's this Thursday. I want to thank our Amazing PTO Board and all our volunteers for all the hours they have put in to make this event great. Please join us by participating in the 5k or FUN Run, or come to cheer on others and enjoy a little family time with our carnival games and food trucks.
Friday is Leadership Day! Our Staff and Students have been growing their Leadership all year and are ready to show off what they have accomplished together. Please come enjoy this celebration with your student, learn about the 7 habits, and honor all of the progress your young leader has made. I ask that you do not take them with you after the program. Our team has planned many fun Leadership Activities for the afternoon, and we want them here with us.

(ALL students have an entry in the showcase) Due to classroom spacing, only 1 guest per child will be allowed to participate in our classroom activities. 10:00-10:45 School Tours for Community Leaders (guests of students on or leading the tour may also attend) 10:45-11:00 Closing Remarks

| Join us for the Annual Griffin 5K & FUN Run on Thursday, March 26, 2026. The ½ mile FUN RUN starts at 5:00 p.m. It is a COLOR RUN and consists of 2 laps around the track. All participants get a free certificate courtesy of Canes The 5k starts at 5:30 p.m. Those participating in the 5k can also participate in the FUN Run. NDUE Students who sign up for the 5K or FUN Run get to wear athletic wear to school the week of the race!
Eat Dinner with us after the race! The following food trucks will be on campus and will donate a portion of the night's profits to NDUE PTO: The Cajun Asian, Joe’s 2 Geaux, Streetcar Snowballs, Taqueria Mi Palmar, and Big Pits Smoking BBQ. |

Establish Consistent Routines: Structure provides security. Set regular times for meals, homework, and, importantly, sleep (8-10 hours) to help children manage anxiety. Encourage Open Communication: Ask open-ended questions about their day rather than "yes/no" questions (e.g., "What was the best part of your day?"). Normalize talking about feelings, including fear, anger, and sadness. Prioritize Play and Downtime: Ensure children have unstructured time for play, which is crucial for their mental wellness, says Mental Health America. Limit screen time and encourage outdoor activities and creativity, notes Seattle Children's.
Model Coping Skills: Children learn from watching you. Demonstrate how to manage stress by practicing calm, deep breathing or taking a walk. Build Confidence and Self-Esteem: Provide positive feedback on their efforts, not just results. Encourage hobbies and give them opportunities to help others to build empathy and self-worth.
Stay Involved and Observe: Participate in school activities, attend conferences, and watch for significant changes in behavior. |
