Dear NDUE Families,
Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign observed every October in schools all over the United States to promote drug, tobacco, and violence prevention through awareness. During this week, we have guest speakers present in our morning assemblies and dress days that align with the theme of the day to help students make connections to habits that will help them have healthy relationships and bodies for a lifetime. We hope that these events help our students build a firm foundation so that when they get old enough to find themselves surrounded by the temptations of the world, they will make good choices. We appreciate your support of Red Ribbon week and encourage you to discuss each day's message with your student.
We are Better Together! Geaux Griffins.

We will honor the veterans in our students' families through a slide show during our program. Please add a slide to the presentation honoring your veteran(s) in the Library Google Classroom by Nov. 3rd.
If your student plans to check out after the program, please complete the fast pass so they can check out from the classroom. We take attendance every day, and any check-outs will count against Perfect Attendance. IDs will be checked, and no student will be released to anyone not on the checkout list in JCampus or on the permission slip for Fast Pass.
Please ensure all guests know the name of their child’s homeroom teacher.
Students may wear their uniform or red, white, and blue professional dress on this day.

PTO is a huge help on our campus! Joining PTO is a great way to get involved in our school and meet people in our community. We are extremely thankful for the generosity and hard work of our amazing PTO. We couldn't make NDUE childhood magic with out them!
Students can purchase Boo Bags from the concession stand each morning before school Oct. 27-30. They will be delivered on Oct. 31st.
"Healthy Choices for a Healthy You!"
"This week is all about celebrating your choices to stay healthy and happy. We'll learn about why it's important to be kind to our bodies and our minds so we can grow up to be the best versions of ourselves!"
"Remember that you have the power to make good choices. Your counselor is always here to talk with you and help you make decisions that are right for you!"
North DeSoto LOWER will host the Book Parade on October 31st at 9 am. Each of their homerooms will parade around campus, depicting a fictional character from their class book. Our students will participate by viewing this parade. Families can watch the parade from across the street, but are not allowed to mix in with our student body. This is a shorter routed event with no throws, so we encourage you to attend only if you have a student in the parade.
Our students may wear a FICTIONAL Book Character costume on this day within dress code restrictions. Students who do not follow these guidelines will have to change.
(NO sleeveless, NO characters who are also real people, NO masks, nothing from a horror book, length must be 4 inches from the knee or leggings must be worn.)
Please share with us your children's accomplishments outside of school, so that we can share them with the community! We are proud of our Griffins. We are specifically looking for Team Championships (please include ALL NDUE students on the team's names) and Individual Awards. Attach any pictures and a list of the awards along with the name of the competition by going to the link below. Thank you!
