Student Spotlight

We are proud to highlight our October DeSoto Parish Schools Portrait of a Graduate, Syndey.

Sydeny was nominated by her teacher and chosen by our selction committee for showing the core value of being a Team Collaborator.

What Makes a Team Collaborator?

Working Together: Teaming up with classmates to achieve shared goals.

Listening Actively: Valuing diverse ideas and listening respectfully to others.

Communicating Clearly: Sharing thoughts constructively and supporting team members.

Building Strong Connections: Creating positive, respectful relationships with peers and teachers.

Way to go Sydney!

Family Habit Challenge

November Challenge

This printable tracker—titled the My Habit 3: Put First Things First Monthly Leadership Tracker—is designed to help our Little Griffins focus on prioritizing important tasks. It is based on Habit 3: Put First Things First—spending time on the things that are most important!

To complete the sheet, start at the top by writing down a clear Goal for This Month and listing the Plan—the specific steps that will help reach the goal.

Each week, complete The Monthly Challenge table by checking in on how you worked toward your goal ("A lot", "Some", or "Not yet"), writing your next step, and having a parent initial the box.

At the end of November, fill out the Month-End Family Reflection where the Kid Leader reflects on progress and pride, and the Parent shares how planning and focusing on what is most important helped. Together, decide on a special Win-Win Celebration to enjoy!

Please turn your completed tracker in to your teacher by November 30.

ONE TWO THREE FOUR, I DECLARE A COIN WAR!

It’s time for NDLE PTO COIN WARS!

Starting October 12, grade-level teams will compete to see who can earn the most points! Bring in your coins to ADD points to your team, but watch out for those $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills because they’ll SUBTRACT points!!

The winning grade level will receive a prize!

Our goal is to raise enough money to upgrade the playground equipment at NDLE, so every little bit makes a BIG difference!

We’ll count the buckets each week and post updates at school and on the NDLE PTO Facebook page, so stay tuned to see who’s in the lead!

Let the games begin! May the best grade win!

Morning Carline Procedures

As the earliest risers on the North DeSoto campus, we love welcoming our Little Griffins bright and early! Here are a few quick tips to help your family’s morning drop-off go smoothly:

Drop-Off Times: Our doors open at 7:00 AM, and staff are outside to greet students until 7:35 AM. Classroom instruction begins at 7:40 AM.

Beat the Traffic: Carline is super quick between 7:05 AM and 7:15 AM! Since the Middle and Upper Elementary schools don't open until 7:15 AM, dropping off your NDLE student first is a great way to save time.

Breakfast: Breakfast is served until 7:35 AM, so be sure to arrive early if your child wants to eat at school!

Late Arrivals & Tardy Policy: If you arrive after 7:35 AM, please park and walk your child into the building. At 7:40 AM, students are officially marked tardy and must be checked in at the front office. (Please note that repeated tardies are subject to state truancy guidelines/FINS referral.)

Carline Route: All morning and afternoon carline traffic must enter campus using the road by the Upper Elementary. Please do not turn into the carline from the Highway 171 traffic light entrance that enters our parking lot.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe and ready for a wonderful day of learning!

Transportation Changes

To ensure student safety, all transportation changes must follow strict procedures. Transportation changes cannot be made over the phone; written requests must be sent to the office with your child in the morning and include the date, duration of the change, parent/guardian signature, and a phone number where you can be reached. If someone not listed on the emergency sheet is picking up your student, written parent permission is required, and the authorized individual must present a photo ID upon arrival.

For emergencies, you may email both tracy.miller@desotopsb.com and dena.salter@desotopsb.com from the email address on file including a photo of the parent/guardian's driver's license alongside the required request details. All requests must be submitted before 2:00 PM, and if you do not receive a confirmation reply, please call the office directly at (318) 925-2383.
